Good Actors are Hard to find…

A quick follow-up to Cecil D. DeJeffery’s on going directing career. As mentioned before, Jeffery is still in his “Whose Line is it, Anyway?” phase as he continues to push his actors to say, “Where No Man Has Gone Before!” Since he has used up most of the local acting talent (such as it is), he now will draft anyone who comes through the front door…no matter WHO it is. In this particular case, it was the Sears Repairman who came to find out why our less than a year old dishwasher couldn’t hold its water. This particular problem must be a contagious disease as it is the same ailment out hot water tank recently displayed…but I digress again.

The poor man had hardly started his evaluation of the dishwasher before Jeffery came in, looked the man over and gave him his cue, “To Boldly Go….” At first he was a bit unsure of what Jeffery was requiring of him. Fortunately, the veteran actors in the room (Mom and his Sister Crystal) quickly explained the motivation for his performance and the line required and with a natural delivery that must have come with his obvious theatrical training, he said his lines on cue and to the Directors satisfaction. At least that appeared to be the case as he turned around and left the room…briefly. This was apparently a veteran directors ploy as he kept reappearing to test him on his ad lib skills as he prompted him to repeat the lines given to him…no matter how much like gibberish it sounded. Mr. Repairman was to say the least a great sport about the whole thing and did whatever Jeffery directed him to do. Unfortunately, the repair itself required a part to be ordered so it could not be completed. Perhaps this is why Jeffery felt the need to say, “Great Job…Not!!” Fortunately, being a smart Director, he waited for his actor to step outside before he decided to make THAT declaration. Thank Goodness for small favors as we will need Mr. Sears to return to complete the repair. Until then, Jeffery will need to seek his talent elsewhere. Good actors are hard to find.
